I spent months looking for the perfect project bike with my wife Yolanda and kids. I was really looking for that diamond in the rough, and finally after searching and searching we ended up finding one from a really good guy in Utah. The second he opened the garage, it was hard for me to contain myself. It was in perfect shape, low miles, and the price was right (not to mention the tons of accessories and work he had done to it from Harley). I tried to play hardball with him for a bit until we finally agreed on a number. As soon as I took her home, I knew the fun times had begun for the transformation to make her the “Black-Magic Woman.”
My first call was to the homie—el mero mero—El Jefe Danny D. in Baldwin Park, as he is the only one I know who could get me to the level that the bike needed to be at. We shot a few ideas back and forth and decided on the colors and ultimately the name “Black-Magic Woman.” The color had to be black and on point, so I did what I always do when working with El Jefe by telling him the base colors then stepping back and letting him do his thing. I have never been disappointed.
The next step was to bump up the power of the motor. I got with James from Ground Zero Customs in Idaho Falls and we tackled the engine. We started with diamond-cut CNC-ported heads and jugs and bumped up to 96ci. After a fresh map and dyno tune, now she runs in pure beast mode.
The rest of the bike was exactly what my right-hand man Jared “Dirty” Dursteler from Bonneville Baggers and I had in mind. With the fresh paint ready to go, we added brakes, a 21-inch wheel, Factory 47 exhaust, and the rest of the boxes of goodies, including wiring it up for tunes, etc.
I’m proud to have this bike as a finished product of Bonneville Baggers and hope it’s just a first of many builds that people in Idaho can see. We already have a list of customers who all want Bonneville Baggers Lowrider viclas and hope to keep bringing a whole new style to this area.
