1947 Arlen Ness Knucklehead

While flipping through the first issue of Hot Bike we came across this article from the legendary Arlen Ness from April 1971. We are amazed this bike is as relevant and as much of a showstopper today as it was 45 years ago. That just goes to prove that a true classic never goes out of style and can stand the test of time after almost half a century. That’s impressive, Arlen Ness.

Coming or going, there is no hiding the hot potential of Arlen Ness’ outstanding Harley. Arlen Ness shows a prime example of what 1947 Harley-Davidson, a year’s work, and $5,000 can produce. The bike is a pure custom starting with the 4130 chrome-moly single-tube frame. Paint is a combination of striking red acrylic lacquer and modern flames.
